Spiritual Sexuality Healing Sessions:

In many society’s women have much higher negative attitudes to sexuality and body image than men do. Fisher et al. (1988) suggest that this gender difference is a learned disposition (not genetic) based on their exposure to sex related restrictiveness and punishment during childhood socialisation.
Therefore it would be expected that because girls are exposed to a more negative sex culture than boys in general they will be more restrained in sexual behaviour, sexual expression and interests as adult women.
It saddens me to hear how many women have lived their lives never getting anywhere near reaching their full potential sexually, with up to 30% of women never having had an orgasm in their life. They tell themselves that they are happy in their lives or that they are happy if their partner is satisfied, saying that is enough for them. While deep down inside if they are honest with themselves they know they are abandoning themselves and feel a deep sense of loss from never having come close to having a spiritual experience through sex and to understanding the beautiful power that lies dormant waiting to be discovered, like a majestic bird that’s never been able to fly.
Women’s sexual difficulties can be rooted in physical and emotional abuse or neglect, anxiety, stress, moral or religious trauma, lack of sexual education, absence of healthy sexual female role models or other factors. It can be difficult for women to seek help for sexual problems due to shame, fear of humiliation, socio-political stigma, finances, and an ambiguity as to exactly what is the nature of the problem.
Working with women I spend much time building up a system of safety and support, as well as educating them about female sexuality. I help them tear down socially constructed ideas about what defines sexy, and help them expand their notion of what sex entails. Many women who come to see me have been in therapy for years without daring to voice their sexual concerns. A woman’s healing process at times takes longer than a man’s, as their issues are often more complex, and women frequently allow themselves less time for their own process due to the increased demands of a career, children, a partner, and a generally hectic life.
The key process in healing is for women to tolerate, on a moment-to-moment basis, being in their bodies and staying with all the emotions that necessarily arise. My treatment is focused on supporting and facilitating this simple yet often difficult process. I trust the interactive field between therapist and client as a vehicle for transformation in which the use of communication, body and breath awareness, and safe therapeutic touch support the client’s embodiment of the therapeutic experience.
I help women discover their needs and desires, and support them in the empowering process of giving voice to all that they unearth. By being patient and persistent, women can change old patterns, become sexually alive, and experience the freedom that springs from fully integrating their erotic selves with their whole beings as women in the world.
Women are very powerful sexually and are capable of experiencing so much more than what is believed in society. A lot of the time it is not about learning new things, but about unlearning what we what we have already been taught, and it’s never too late to start.
We are sexual beings; we came into this world because of sex and all we do in life is motivated by sexuality.
I have practiced as a bodyworker and somatic therapist for the last 10 years. For several years I have focused on sexuality issues primarily working with women with sexual abuse histories, relationship issues, body image issues, vaginismus, and understanding their sexuality by way of experiential learning about the range of orgasmic experiences available to them.
